Shannon and Nate's Wedding -- Alexandria, VA Wedding Photographer

Shannon and Nate were married last weekend in an intimate ceremony in Alexandria, VA.

This is Shannon before the ceremony. She was perfectly calm waiting for her guests to arrive. Here are some of the details I loved!

This is Nate listening to the first reading.

Shannon was a mixture of emotions throughout the ceremony. There was laughter and tears.
This little girl was my favorite. She is Shannon's niece, and she was the most expressive of all the guests. She would sharply intake with glee when Shannon and Nate received their rings. She started crying when Shannon was choked up by her vows. And here she was right after the bride and groom sealed the vows with a kiss. Love her.
Both rings on. Just waiting for the announcement!

And they're off!

She couldn't hold back the tears once she got to the end of the aisle.

And here is my favorite family portrait of Shannon and Nate along with their newborn Simon.

Congratulations!

Hanna Family ~ Sneak Peek!

This past weekend, I got the chance to spend the afternoon with the Hanna family at Belvedere Plantation in Fredericksburg, VA. It was the perfect backdrop for a fun family shoot with a corn maze, hay rides, pig races, a pumpkin cannon, tractor races, and bonfires!

Here is a sneak peek of Ryan and Ainsley. Love it!

Community Picnic

On Halloween day, Brad and I headed over to our old neighborhood for their annual Community Picnic. The neighborhood is conveniently designed with a culdesac in the center, making the perfect gathering place for the picnic without worries of traffic coming through. The event had already been put off two weeks in a row due to rain, so we were relieved to finally have a clear Saturday. Everything was fantastic. There was music, lots of food, a moon bounce, snow cones, trivia, door prizes, a Halloween parade, political campaigning, and a fire truck!

We were primarily enjoying the company of our former neighbors, so we didn't take many pictures. However, I HAD to share this one costume from the kids parade. Jack was Captain Hook, but he didn't have a hook for his costume, so he used a hanger. I would have probably used a plastic hanger and broken off the top for a hook. But that wouldn't have been nearly as funny or as cute as Jack's padded hanger! I could not stop laughing.

All the kids got to play in the fire truck, and we had to take some pictures of ourselves.

I think Brad just cooperated because I let him bring his beer.

A Weekend in Ocean City ~Ocean City Photographer

Christi and Dan invited me and Brad to Ocean City for the weekend and to stay at this beautiful penthouse condo on the water. The condo was about the same size as my whole house! It even had a wraparound deck with a hot tub. And of course, I loved the red adirondack chairs! Red is the best signature color.

Saturday we spent the afternoon walking the boardwalk and taking lots of pictures as we went. It was both bright and windy, but we still got some great shots.

Alex was the best behaved child all day. He happily rode along in his stroller while we played arcade games and explored the shops along the boardwalk. We pooled our ticket winnings together and bought him some toys to keep him entertained.
Don't you just love his bright blue eyes?

Once the adults were done playing, we set Alex free and all took turns chasing after him. He is fast! He cooperated enough to get a couple family shots.

Don't you wish you were still little enough to get carried like this? I often wish I was taller and could see above the crowds.

Father and son just going for a stroll.

Alex cracks me up.

He was starting to fade from the long walk.

At the end of the day, we went to the indoor carnival and rode the carousel. We were pretty much the only people there and didn't have to wait in line. I've decided off-season is the best time to go to the beach.

My husband takes the best pictures. We, of course, had to sneak him into a couple shots.

This whole thing made me think of the scene in Mary Poppins when the carousel animals all come off and race.

I'm not entirely sure, but this one looked like a dragon and I made Brad take a picture with it.

And one of me! See, red is my signature color.

Thanks to Dan, Christi, and Alex for letting us come spend the weekend with you in Ocean City!
