People come in and out of your life, but it's the ones that stay that matter most. Really, those are the ones we care about. The ones that stick around. But it's hard to predict who you'll still know in ten, twenty years from now. If you knew, you might change who you hang around today.
In the summer before fifth grade, I moved to a new town and attended a new school. I don't remember much about fifth grade, but I remember Tim. Not for anything in particular, but he was a good guy. In fact, he saved me from a bully in middle school. Fast forward to today, Tim and my husband are good friends. We all lived in the same neighborhood as kids, knew each other, but we all formed friendships individually. It wasn't until much later in life that we all hung out together. Honestly, I wouldn't have predicted that I would still know Tim as an adult. But I'm glad I do. Mostly because he introduced me to Kristen. Sorry Tim, but Kristen is my favorite. No hard feelings. You get Brad.
Tim proposed to Kristen by a lake... in between two castles... in Germany. Yea, it was epic. Too bad we weren't invited along to take pictures right after the proposal. However, we had a fantastic time shooting their engagement session on the Northern Neck of Virginia.
This first picture is Brad's. He is quite proud that he is getting a picture posted on the blog. As he should be, I adore this photo. I love sun flare and backlighting.

In our search for a scenic beach, we found this mud flat beach. It was private property, as the owner came out to tell us. But he was happy to let us stay once he found out we were taking pictures to celebrate Tim and Kristen's engagement. Thanks John! Without your permission, we would have missed out on all these wonderful shots.
This one is also Brad's shot. What a perfect silhouette! The passion between these two really comes through.

If only you could see the concrete platform they are standing on in the next couple shots. We made them wade through the water and mud. We had several shoe casualties. But it was worth it.

Tim and Kristen, I can't wait for your wedding next year!
