Bellamy {Northern VA Photographer}

What do you get when you combine a businessman, a marine, and a model? Answer: the best portrait session ever!

I had a fabulous time walking around Occoquan with Bellamy on Sunday. [Side note: Wow, Bellamy, that's an awesome name. How did he get such a name you ask? His grandmother. It means beautiful friend. Thanks for asking.]

We walked around town discovering unexpected nooks and textural backgrounds. My favorites!

Here are a couple of my favorite shots... there were just so many to choose from!

Yep. I can see the modeling skills. Hotness.

Reflection shot? Yes, please!

It rained in the morning, and I was a little worried that our session would have to be postponed. Luckily, the skies cleared and the storm left me this lovely puddle.

I love the lines of this one.

Bellamy, if you ever run for office (which I am sure you will), I expect credit for this perfect campaign shot! It's the perfect mix of Americana and GQ.

The buildings had such rich colors! The bow tie fits right in.

Love that smile. Don't you just want to be friends with him?!

Who knew handicap accessibility could be so architecturally interesting?

Parking garage = awesomeness

Bellamy, thanks for bearing the humidity in your jacket! I love these shots and know that it was worth the heat!

Looking Good on Facebook

Do you remember the days when Facebook was only accessible to college students? It was a fun tool back then, but who could have guessed that it would revolutionize the way people do business today?! Now it seems that everyone has a Facebook account. Businesses have realized the marketing potential of social networking sites and are working to have pages with as many fans, friends, and likes as possible. It has also opened another door in photography. Everyone wants to put their best foot forward on their Facebook page, especially professionals. Lately, I have been holding mini portrait sessions to help ensure that local professionals look... well, professional.

Here are some shots from two of my recent Facebook focused sessions.

Jenny (she is quite the regular on my blog) is taking Winchester by storm. On any given night, you can find this young professional at one of many philanthropic, social, or networking events. In fact, she is the brains behind Winchester's Movie on the Mall, which has its inaugural showing this evening.

Denise is simply fascinating. She is an officer in the Army (recruited years ago for her championship rifle shooting skills) as well as a fellow Mary Kay consultant. Beauty and braun = Denise is amazing!

I love everything about this shot:

Don't they both look amazing!? Yes, yes they do. And now their Facebook profiles have shiny new pictures.

Emma and Jordan {Washington, DC Engagement Photographer}

I was at a JMU Alumni event on Capitol Hill. The room was packed with former JMUers and the air conditioner could not keep up with all the body heat. It was toasty. And nearly impossible to navigate the room. As we all crammed in, I thankfully was trapped in the corner by the bar with a friend from school and his friend, Emma. We were introduced and immediately hit it off. Emma was soon-to-be-engaged (she could see it coming - and was right. He proposed the next month!) and we both love all things weddings. We were destined to be friends.
Saturday morning, Brad and I met Emma and Jordan around the Jefferson Memorial. It was the perfect morning. The light was soft, the tourists were yet to be out, and the temperature was uncharacteristically phenomenal for August in DC. We found so many little nooks to take pictures, and I love the results!
We had a blast walking around with Emma and Jordan. We discovered many things... 1. George Mason has his own memorial, but it makes him look like a hobo. He is sitting next to a bindle (had to look that word up). 2. A reflector is the ideal tool for acting out Indiana Jones Ark of the Covenant. 3. With the various contortions required for me to get the right angles for pictures, I could teach a photography yoga class. 4. Emma and Jordan are constantly happy. And it's infectious.
Here are some of my favorites from the day:
Emma, you are gorgeous.

Love the lines of this one:

So cute!

Jordan, you have that stare nailed down.

There was a lot of high-fiving done on this day. Yay for a great engagement session!

I know you're wedding in October is going to be even more fabulous! Can't wait!
