Risotto Master

Tonight we spent the evening in Pentagon City at Sur La Table for a cooking class on how to master risotto and polenta. It was a fabulous class of 11 students. We were taught several recipes and techniques by Chef Matt. We made polenta with garlicky greens, vegetarian polenta lasagna, spinach and gorgonzola risotto, and cauliflower and almond risotto. We were able to eat all the dishes for dinner, and boy was it a lot of food!

Thank goodness we were provided with this handy-dandy recipe booklet. We are going to try and recreate all the dishes at home.

Brad is either concentrating on his onion chopping trying to ignore me because he didn't think our work merited such documentation. Little did he know that I was just playing around with angles so I could give a little shout out to Sur La Table in the background.

The beautiful flavorings for our spinach and gorgonzola risotto on the left, and the delicious masterpiece on the right. Gordon Ramsey would have been so proud.

Here we are after a successful class... the master chefs!

A special thanks to our tablemate, Nate, for getting this picture of us!

What a fantastic way to spend a Wednesday evening. We are always looking for fun classes and activities to do. We certainly recommend the classes at Sur La Table if you are in the market for a good hands-on cooking class.
